People travel to wonder at the height of the mountains, at the huge waves of the seas, at the long course of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motion of the stars, and yet they pass by themselves without wondering.

Speaking of being at the right place at the right time, this woman kindly gave me her seat as she was leaving (I’m picky and need natural light cuz I’m blind as sh*t). She eyed my books and asked if I went to Boalt and if I’m studying for the Bar. I replied yes to both and she damn near hugged me. She also went to Boalt and took the bar 25 years ago when she was only 1 of 3 women in her class. I happily informed her that my graduating class was 54% women. HYFR.
Thankful for these signs and amazing, unexpected moments of encouragement and hope. Love love love.
And yes, I drink a sh*t ton of coffee. And it’s gooooood.
Had my first milestone exam today and felt pretty damn good once i submitted it for grading— wasn’t expecting that. Slowly but surely getting into the groove of things and most importantly- I’m learning. “I did then what I knew how to do. Now that I know better, I do better.” -Maya Angelou
Treated myself to this beautiful view afterwards, before I get back in the zone for the rest of the day.
Saw a man feeding seagulls with his elderly father in a wheelchair. Warmed my heart. Feeling like I’m exactly where I need to be, and I’m happy with that.

Don’t worry, about a thing. Cuz every little thing’s gonna be alright.

Earlier this week I made my own protein bars! They are tasty and I’ve had a hard time not eating all of them at once. I adapted this recipe:
• 5 tbsp sunflower seed butter (I’m allergic to nuts, I buy this at Trader Joe’s)
• 1 cup dry oats
• 4 scoops vanilla whey protein (6 seemed a bit much!)
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 2 tbsp flax meal (your body can’t actually digest flaxseeds and all the nutrition value is therefore lost, so use the ground stuff to derive the benefits)
• 1/4 cup pepitas
• 1/4 cup sunflower seeds
• 1 cup coconut milk (the beverage variety - Trader Joe’s)
• 1/2 cup water
• chocolate chips! (I used half a bag of a vegan kind from Whole Foods because they were the cheapest)They don’t stay together very well as the sunflower seed butter melts quickly. I keep them frozen, which does help, and lesson learned not to eat them outside in 90 degree heat/humidity! Next time I will definitely use 6 scoops of protein powder as all the other flavors overshadow it. You wouldn’t even know how healthy these are when you taste them! Cheap as well (I bought the pepitas/sunflower seeds in the Whole Foods bulk department which makes a huge price difference).
I can’t wait to make another batch!
I have to try this! Thanks for the recipe nix xoxo
